David is Panamas second biggest city. With all the modern facilites you could want. Airport,hospitals schools,supermarkets etc, if its in Panama you can get it in David,its also the tourist hub for this part of Panama and southern costa rica. The property is amaizing ,lush and a real tropical paradise, we have partialy cleared the lower half and left the top section as a sanctuary for the monkeys we rescue and the local wildlife. the lower half has been planted with a least 6000 plants, ranging from palms ,cycads fruit trees, heliconias ,bamboos etc ,many plants have been brought in from overseas and are only found here. this has been planted ,with creating a botanical gardens in mind, as a tourist attraction and has been featrured in quite a few local newspapers,at present we are establishing a tropical veggie garden so as to be able to provide for our own needs and guests and the animals,As one progresses up the property ,you will see large stands of exotic heliconias ,we planted these for the flowers, which can be exported or sold locally and as well as they are great for hummingbirds, the property is a haven for birdwatchers,we often host the local bird clubs. We have a large enclosure for animals or birds about midway up , and from this point there are entrances to nature trails and the garden walks, at this levell there is a cabin which has is been built that sleeps four, it is situated in the tropical garden and has ocean views.
Then as you progress up the hill you see the incredible view out to the islands and the Pacific, here is the main house site, which is yet to be constructed, the plans have been done and passed,it just needs to be built, its a tropical design taking in to account the fantastic views and position with the mountain opposite. here is where the guset cottage is at present, which will connect by way of a deck to the main house,it consists of a large lounge looking towards barro blanco,the mountain opposite,3 bedrooms bathroom, shower, kitchen store room, and laundry, it has all mod cons ,internet is available, sattelite tv, etc,the kitchen has a gas cooker, gas fridge,hot water from a gas hot water heater. at present power is supplied by generator , mains power can be put in,the cottage is wired for it as well as the guest cabin. 2 4x4 vehicles come with the property and the cottage is furnished ,so some one can move in right away. from her one progresses up the jungle path into the monkey sanctuary where the hammock camp is situated, here we have 5 hammocks, a jungle cabin ,for people who want to sleep in beds rather than a hammock., the camp cooking area and a large viewing deck out over the jungle. The hammock camp has proven to be very popular with foreign guests wanting to experience a night in the jungle, the hammocks are state of the art and fully enclosed,the bush hut sleeps up to 3 people in beds and is fully meshed so insects can get in. we are getting more and more guests ,now as we become more widly known, from this point our 5 marked trails lead off into the jungle for the guests to wander and discover,At present we have 10 troops of howler monkeys living in the area and 2 troops of capuchin monkeys we also have a large range of other animals , and a huge variety of birds,we release rescued animals and birds here. We are at present looking after 7 baby howler monkeys of various ages ,and have released 4 monkeys so far which are now living locally around us ,we do not cage any of the animals and any injured animals we house in the enclosures we have. The property has huge potential for the right person who is interested in wildlife and nature it can progress the way we have set it up or be used as a hideaway, its private and secluded yet close to all the things one could want.
